‘Downs’ is the first album in a series of Ambient Music works by Thom Carter (Minimal States).

Written over the winter of 2010/2011, the music was composed as a direct response to walking the long, ancient, beautiful, and sometimes haunting landscapes of the South Downs in England (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Downs ).

A large amount of the music was created from heavily processed field recordings made on-site, which were subsequently sculpted into pitched sounds, and so forming the basis of playable instruments.
